Every country has a national dish that represents it in the world. India has curry,
Canada has poutine, France has croissants, and Ukraine has varenyky, borscht, and
cabbage rolls. Food is very important in Ukrainian culture and most of the holidays have
signature dishes of their own. Today an iconic Ukrainian dish is borscht, a soup with
beets, various vegetables, and bouillon. Students in Ukrainian language courses
cooked a dish of their choice and shared recipes. Some cooked Ukrainian food,
others cooked dishes from their own cultures, or just food they liked.
